Imagery Lesson Part 2 (2/2/11)

Hello 6th Graders!

We will continue our lesson on Imagery today.  Today's activity will be an independent activity.  Please click on the Hatchet link to the right and click on Descriptive Writing Lesson 3.  You will need to create an imagery chart on paper.  You will need a ruler to create your chart.  Once your chart is created, click on one of the pictures provided (DO NOT PRINT PICTURE).

As you look at the photograph pretend you are Brian and this is the Canadian wilderness. You are seeing, feeling, experiencing the area for the first time. Fill in your chart with descriptive words describing what you are experiencing.

Now use the words to write a paragraph. Imagine you have just stepped into the wilderness for the first time. You look around. Describe what you feel, see, hear, smell, etc. What are you doing? Do you try to walk around? Do you simply stand still and watch? Include this information in your paragraph.

Your paragraph will need to be handwritten.  The title for your lesson is Imagery Lesson 3.  Use proper handwriting.  Spelling and punctuation will count towards your overall grade.  Take your time and think before you write!

God bless,
Mrs. Murphy
