There has been a lot of discussion lately about the benefit of having single gender classrooms (boys in one room and girls in another). Statistics show that each gender retains more information and in a shorter amount of time when being taught in separate classrooms. How do you feel about this? Would you like to be in a class with all girls or all boys? Why or why not? Write an essay stating your opinion and why you feel your opinion is the way to go!
This morning while I was watching the Today Show, they reported that President Obama is going before Congress to talk to them about ending summer vacations for American school children. Instead of having 8 weeks off, he feels that one week would suffice. How do you feel about this? Is this a good idea or a bad idea? Why? Write a letter to President Obama either supporting his efforts or trying to persuade him to leave summer break as is.
